The Centre for Cultural Inquiry (Zentrum für Kulturwissenschaftliche Forschung) The Centre for Cultural Inquiry (ZKF) is one of the University of Konstanz’s central research institutions. It brings together all the cultural inquiry activities in Konstanz, currently focusing on phenomena of social cohesion and civic strength, on the global mobility of aesthetic and social forms, on the description of cultures of plausibilization (core topic since 2019) and the rethinking of infrastructure (core topic since 2021). The Center of Excellene "Cultural Foundations of Social Integration" („Kulturelle Grundlagen von Integration“) was an association for research in cultural theory and history at the University of Konstanz. The German Research Association (DFG) funded the Center from 2006 until October 2019 in the framework of the Excellence Initiative run by the German federal and state governments.. Kulturwissenschaftliches Forschungskolleg / Sonderforschungsbereich SFB 485 "Norm und Symbol.
Die kulturelle Dimension sozialer und politischer Integration"
Das Kulturwissenschaftliche Forschungskolleg „Norm und Symbol“ wurde von der DFG zum 01.01.2000 eingerichtet und endete in seiner dritten und letzten Phase am 31.12.2009. Es verband Projekte aus den Fächern Geschichte, Soziologie, Literatur- und Politikwissenschaft, Philosophie und Rechtswissenschaft. Der Forschungshorizont erstreckte sich vom Alten Orient bis zur Zeitgeschichte. Indem es verschiedene Epochen und disziplinäre Fachkulturen mit ihren jeweiligen methodischen Orientierungen und Fragemustern zusammenführte, verstand sich das Forschungskolleg als ein Laboratorium kulturwissenschaftlicher Grundlagenforschung.
